For 850 sq ft, aim for minimum 45-60 minutes of battery life. The Dyson V15 offers up to 60 minutes in eco mode, the V12 also about 60 minutes. Expect 20-30 minutes to vacuum 850 sq ft in normal mode. Rowenta and Bosch models generally offer 45-55 minutes, more than enough for this area.

The Dyson V15 is superior for pet hair: laser dust detector, 230 AW suction power, advanced HEPA filter. The V12 is lighter (4.4 lbs vs 6.6 lbs) but less powerful (150 AW). For pets, go with V15. For light daily use, V12 is enough and less tiring.

Yes, for most homes! The Dyson V15/V12 and premium Rowenta offer power equivalent to canister vacuums. Advantages: maneuverability, space saving, quick cleaning. Limitation: 45-60 min battery (vs unlimited for canister). For homes >1600 sq ft with lots of thick carpet, a canister is still preferable.

To maximize battery life: 1) Don't let the battery fully drain, 2) Recharge after each use, 3) Store in a temperate place (60-77°F), 4) Avoid leaving plugged in permanently once charged. A well-maintained battery lasts 3-5 years. Refurbished models often have a new or tested battery.
